Eric Maiwald is Vice President and Research Director for Gartner, Inc., a global IT research and advisory company. His 20+ years of industry experience include serving as security officer and consultant for large financial institutions, healthcare providers, services firms, and manufacturers. Maiwald is an inventor with several patents, including Method for Establishing Trust in a Computer Networks via Association, Apparatus and Method for Providing Network Security, and Apparatus and Method for Providing Multi-level Security for Communications among Computers and Terminals on a Network. He is a regular speaker at RSA, Infosec World, Gartner's Catalyst conferences, and a keynote speaker for other industry conferences. Maiwald is the author of the first and second editions of Network Security: A Beginner's Guide and of Fundamentals of Network Security and is coauthor of Security Planning & Disaster Recovery.
